Review Summary: G5
Review: I orded this mainly on the fact that Logitech makes it and the good reviews. I can say now that I love it. Fantastic mouse. Easy on the hand, the weighted cartrage is nice. Best mouse I owned ever.

Review Summary: Great mouse
Review: The G5 is awesome. My old Logitech optical mouse finally died, and this is exactly what I needed. The weight cartridge feature is helpful, the laser sensitivity settings are sweet, and the grip is comfy. It's not just a gaming mouse--I use it primarily for everyday applications. Having a good mouse makes a world of difference.

Review Summary: Expensive mouse in cheap plastic shell
Review: Pro :
No battery, plug and play .
Good strong sturdy wired.
Nice weight and case.
Cons :
Cheap plastic shell.
Cheap scroll wheel.
You look at the price and said wow, I must have got a good deal if it on sale. But no, compare to my two Logitech wireless mouse (which have some reception and movement issue). This one feel cheap among those eventhough the price are almost same.
Let me tell you, when I first holding this mouse, it was like I was holding some China brand mouse that only cost $5. What is it that different than the rest ? Not anything new except the rapid changing DPI thing. All my mice have same button this mice had except the cheap plastic shell.
My VX Revo is one of the best mice I owned but I hate the battery, even the rechargable battery only able to support it 2-3days unlike it promised of a month. My LX8 however able to go without charge in a month :). This new G5 only good because I need the continuous usage so no battery is a plus.
Second, my VX Revo have the smooth rubber that feel good on your hand, LX8 have it too but not as good and cool like VX Revo. This G5 have the rugged plastic un-smooth side, I mean, I am holding it everyday and I don't want my mouse feel like some kinda rock ><. Why can't they just make it smooth and shine. I can ignore that too if they don't also put the two right/left mouse button rugged too. That doesn't go well with their electro blue color, it's look crap with rugged plastic, make it shiny than maybe it will look cool.
The scrolling isn't good, slow and un-smooth and noisy. My VX Revo had the quiet mouse scroll I ever seen and it's move fast, the LX8 use the old plastic mouse scroll but they make it more smooth motion and quieter than that G5.
Overall, I would't recommended this mouse at all, maybe if the G9 is around this price, it's should be better. At $46, this mouse isn't worth it, should be around $25 because it's cheap.
The only non-cheap about this mouse is the wired, the weight adjuster and its case. Maybe because the weight adjuster cost them too much money that they decide to un-smooth everything ? o_O . I want a mouse not a cheap toy. However, it does response better without some lag time than my wireless mouse. If I know this mouse is crap, I rather buy MX518 for the smoothness and same feature and also cheaper. Why you have to praise something that doesn't live up to the price >< .
PS : If my VX revo + LX8 have wired, they would be among the elite but Logitech got issue when they only make wireless and most of them got problem one way or another ><.

Review Summary: Defective or bad product?
Review: Well the mouse worked fine right out of the box for about a week or two and then it stopped moving in one direction. I think they have two tracks, one is upper left to lower right and the other is upper right to lower left. Anyway, it stopped working upper left to lower right direction so you can imagine it doesn't work well without full movement. I'll try to get it replaced but Amazon won't accept a return because I missed it by 3 days (of course) so I have to go through Logitech which shouldn't be a problem as they have had good mice in the past and I will either get a replacement or a new model.
As for this model, it has weights in the bottom so you can fine tune the feel of the mouse but I found the additional weights to cause the mouse to be a little heavy and was concerned about corpal-tunnel syndrome (sp?) so I left the weights out and it worked fine. Another post mentioned the cord might have been too stiff, I agree, the cord did cause a bit of push back on the mouse so I had to "clip" it to my desk to prevent push. Not the ideal mouse for gaming or otherwise.
If I were you I would get a different model. I did like the long cord lenght though since my desktop isn't real close to my desk so the extra length cord was nice. The cord is also made of a fabric material that looks / feels pretty tough which is why it probably gave pushback but it seemed very sturdy.
